Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a common, chronic skin condition that women are particularly susceptible to. Although, it can affect anyone it is particularly common in middle aged women

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that usually appears on the face but can affect the décolletage area too.

It may manifest itself as persistent redness, blood vessels and spots.

The specific cause of Rosacea is unknown, but it is thought that exposure to sunlight, extreme hot and cold temperatures as well as the consumption of alcohol, caffeine and spicy foods can exacerbate the condition.

Symptoms of Rosacea

*Persistent flushing of the face

*Thread veins

*Red spots

*Thickening of the skin

The four main symptoms are persistent flushing of the face especially around the nose and cheeks. Often this is accompanied by red veins more commonly known as broken capillaries.

Thickening of the skin can also appear as excess uneven tissue particularly around the nose and cheeks.

Red spots may be present which can be filled with puss.

Does Rosacea get worse in the summer?

Sun, hot weather and humidity can all lead to a flare up of the condition-sun exposure is one of themes common triggers therefore using a sunscreen with at least spa 30 or higher is the best way to protect your skin.

What is the best treatment?

Although Rosacea cannot be cured it can be dramatically improved and managed by laser facials using IPL light therapy.

The area is cleansed and then gel applied to cool the area.

Using the correct setting bespoke settings for the individual and correct handpick the laser is then pulsed on the skin. Within 2-3 days an improvement in the skin should be noticed -the skin will be less red and the texture improved ,-.

A course of 3 treatments spaced at 3 weeks intervals is recommended moving onto a maintenance programme of one every 6-8 weeks.

The effects of the facial are continual and improvements long lasting.

The symptoms of Rosacea are Flushing

Flushing, stinging, redness, small and superficial dilated blood vessels and in some cases, spots meaning it can be mistaken for Acne - it can also be sensitive to your environment i.e., climate and emotional stress can trigger a flare up.

Whether you are prone to flushing or have severe symptoms like itchiness and rashes A carbon facial with Rosacea Laser treatment will dramatically help to lessen the appearance of Rosacea.

Causes of Rosacea

*Exposure to sunlight

*Stress

*Strenuous exercise

*Hot or cold weather

*Hot drinks

*Alcohol and caffeine

*Spicy foods

It is normal for Rosacea sufferers to experience a flare up following the exposure to one or more of the above.

Lifestyle and remedies

Pay attention to what normally triggers a flare up and try to avoid.

Apply sunscreen Factor 50 liberally before going outdoors

Don’t over rub your face as this can aggravate the condition and causes more redness

It is possible to reduce visible flushing with makeup.

Treatment

At Aspen we have great success in reducing the signs off Rosacea using IPL therapies. This involves a bespoke skin assessment and treatment plan .

Initially you are invited in for a patch test, skin assessment consultation to ensure that the treatment is correct for you.

After 24 hours if there has been no adverse reaction to the patch test, we can start treatment.

You can either choose to have the Rosacea treatment on its own or combine it with a Carbon facial (when the treatment is combined it is great value for money as we can treat all areas on your face where imperfections exist for a minimal extra charge). i.e.,

Carbon facial is                      £55

Rosacea treatment is             £45

Pigmentation is                      £25 per area

Red vein treatment                £45

Totalling                                 £170

However, if you are having the carbon facial you will get all of these treatments for £85 as we are able to combine the treatments at the same appointment.

Your skin will immediately not only feel dramatically improved but look instantly better too!!

As your physical symptoms improve you will start to feel better psychologically and emotionally.

Case Study

This client has had just TWO facials as you can see a dramatic improvement! the floridity in the skin is reduced as are the broken veins in the cheek and nose area. Using IPL Rosacea treatment and Carbon facial combined there is also a dramatic improvement in the skin texture too!!!
